[Current Music |Steve Earle, "I Feel Alright"]

Hello, there.
I think I should start at the beginning and go until I feel like I should stop.  And you, the reader, can also read until you feel like you shouldn't read anymore.  Go ahead.  I won't be offended.  I promise.
To wit:
I have created this journal to pen my thoughts and feelings on various things, such as children (raising them, primarily), politics, music, books, and other things as well--pretty much everything, but from a Buddhist's point of view.  Note that not everything will have a Buddhist slant, but almost all of it will.  Like most religious folk, religion colours our perspective--as it should.
And the reason why I would do this?
Listen:  Too often, we hear all about what Christians, liberals, conservatives, peoples of this or that ethnicity, and others think about pretty much everything.  Buddhists, by and large, aren't as loud-mouthed about our convictions.
I'm no exception, but I thought that it would be interesting to some people to hear a slightly different perspective.  Buddhism is, after all, the third largest religion in America right now.  And yet it is almost unknown, at least where I live.  Buddhists don't wear crosses, or yarmulkes.  We don't have cable access shows, or churches with distinctive architecture.  We don't proselytize or hold revivals.  Large groups of us very rarely converge in public for demonstrations or rallies.  For the most part, we are quite about who we are.  And there are good reasons for that, but that's not important now.

So sit back and enjoy my posts.  Or not.  Whatever.  If you have questions, please ask.  There is no such thing as a stupid question.  Feel free to comment.  I welcome all comments-good and bad.  If there is something you would like for me to discuss in a post, let me know.  If you want me to go away and leave things alone, let me know.
You are not going to offend me.  I promise.
